Psalms For
Victory In Battle
Psalm 1
1. Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in
the way of sinners,
nor sits in the
seat of scoffers;
2. but his delight is in the law of the
Lord,
and on his law
he meditates day and night.
3. He is like a tree
planted by streams of water,
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
4. The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff which the wind drives away.
5. Therefore, the wicked will not stand
in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the
righteous;
6. for the Lord knows the way of the
righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
Psalm 2
1 Why do the nations conspire,
and
the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and
the rulers take counsel together,
against
the Lord and His anointed, saying,
3 "Let us burst their bonds asunder,
and
cast their cords from us."
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the
Lord has them in derision.
5 Then He will speak to them in His wrath,
and
terrify them in His fury, saying,
6 "I have set my king
on
Zion, my holy hill." [Selah]
7 I will tell of the decree of the Lord:
He said to me, "You are my
son.
Today, I have begotten you.
8 Ask of me,
and
I will make the nations your heritage,
and
the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron,
and dash them in
pieces like a potter's vessel." [Selah]
10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be
warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with obedience,
And with love kiss His feet,
12 lest He be angry,
and you
perish in the way;
for
His wrath is not quickly kindled,
but
can devour nations.
13 Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Psalm18
A Psalm of David
To the choirmaster.
A Psalm of David, the servant of the Lord, who
addressed the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered
him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said:
1 I love thee, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress,
and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold.
3 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be
praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death encompassed me,
the torrents of perdition assailed me;
5 the cords of Sheol
entangled me,
the snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From
His temple He heard my voice,
and my cry to Him reached His ears.
7 Then the earth reeled and rocked;
the foundations also of the mountains
trembled and quaked,
because He was angry.
8 Smoke went up from His nostrils,
and devouring fire from His mouth;
glowing coals flamed forth from Him.
9 He bowed the heavens, and came down;
thick darkness was under His feet.
10 He rode on a cherub, and flew;
He
came swiftly upon the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness his covering around Him,
His
canopy thick clouds dark with water.
12 Out of the brightness before Him
there broke through His clouds
hailstones and coals of fire.
13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens,
and the Most High uttered His voice,
hailstones and coals of fire.
14 And He sent out His arrows, and scattered
them;
He
flashed forth lightnings, and routed them.
15 Then the channels of the sea were seen,
and the foundations of the world were laid bare,
at thy rebuke, O Lord,
at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
16 He reached down from on high, and took hold
of me,
He
drew me out of many waters.
17 He delivers me from my strong enemy,
and from those
who hate me;
for they are
too mighty for me.
18 They come upon me in the day of my calamity;
but the Lord is my strong stay.
19 He brings me forth into a broad place;
He
delivers me, because He delights in me.
20 The Lord rewards me according to my
righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands He
recompenses me.
21 For I have keep the ways of the Lord,
and do not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all His ordinances are before me,
and His statutes I did not put away from me.
23 I am blameless before him,
and I keep myself from guilt.
24 Therefore the Lord recompenses me
according to my righteousness,
according to the cleanness of my hands in
His sight.
25 With the loyal thou dost show thyself loyal;
with the blameless man thou dost show
thyself blameless;
26 with the pure thou dost show thyself pure;
and with the crooked thou dost show thyself perverse.
27 For thou dost deliver a humble people;
but the haughty eyes thou dost bring down.
28 Yea, thou does light my lamp;
the Lord my God lightens my darkness.
29 Yea, by thee I can crush a troop;
and by my God I can leap over a wall.
30 This God - His way is perfect;
the promise of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
31 For who is God, but the Lord?
And
who is a rock, except our God?
32 the God who girds me with strength,
and makes my way safe.
33 He makes my feet like hind’s feet,
and set me secure on the heights.
34 He trains my hands for war,
so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 Thou gives me the shield of thy salvation,
and thy right hand supports me,
and thy help makes me great.
36 Thou gives a wide place for my steps under
me,
and my feet do not slip.
37 I pursue my enemies and overtake them;
and do not turn back till they are consumed.
38 I thrust them through, so that they are not able
to rise;
they fall under my feet.
39 For thou girds me with strength for the
battle;
thou makes my assailants sink under me.
40 Thou makes my enemies turn their backs to
me,
and those who hate me I destroy.
41 They cry for help, but there was none to
save,
they cry to the Lord, but he does not answer them.
42 I beat them fine as dust before the wind;
I
cast them out like the mire of the streets.
43 Thou delivers me from strife with the
peoples;
thou makes me the head of the nations;
people whom I do not know serve me.
44 As soon as they hear of me they obey me;
foreigners come cringing to me.
45 Foreigners loose heart,
and come trembling out of their fastnesses.
46 The Lord lives; and blessed be my rock,
and exalted be the God of my salvation,
47 the God who gives me vengeance
and subdues peoples under me;
48 who delivers me from my enemies;
yea, thou exalts me above my adversaries;
thou delivers me from men of violence.
49 For this I will extol thee, O Lord, among
the nations,
and sing praises to thy name.
50 Great triumphs He gives to His king,
and shows steadfast love to His anointed,
to David and his descendants forever .
Psalm
35
A Psalm of David.
1 Contend, Oh Lord, with those who
contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me!
2 Take hold of shield and buckler,
and rise for my help!
3 Draw the spear and javelin
against my pursuers!
Say to
my soul,
"I am your deliverance!"
4 Let them be put to shame and dishonour
who seek after my life!
Let
them be turned back and confounded
who devise evil against me!
5 Let them be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the Lord driving them on!
6 Let their way be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the Lord pursuing them!
7 For without cause they hid their net for me;
without cause they dug a pit for my life.
8 Let ruin come upon them unawares!
And
let the net which they hid ensnare them;
let them fall therein to ruin!
9 Then my soul shall rejoice in the Lord,
exulting in His deliverance.
10 All my bones shall say,
"O Lord, who is like thee,
thou who deliverest the weak
from him who is too strong for the weak,
the weak and needy from offenders who despoils
the weak?"
11 Malicious witnesses rise up;
they ask me of things that I know not.
12 They requite me evil for good;
my soul is forlorn.
13 But I, when they
were sick—
I
wore sackcloth,
I
afflicted myself with fasting.
I
prayed with head bowed on my bosom,
14 as though I grieved for my friend or my
brother;
I
went about as one who laments his mother,
bowed down and in mourning.
15 But at my stumbling, they gathered in glee,
they gathered together against me;
cripples whom I knew not
slandered me without ceasing;
16 they impiously mocked more and more,
gnashing at me with their teeth.
17 How long, O Lord, wilt thou look on?
Rescue me from their ravages,
my life from the lions!
18 Then I will thank thee in the great
congregation;
in the mighty throng I will praise thee.
19 Let not those rejoice over me
who are wrongfully my foes,
and let not those wink the eye
who hate me without cause.
20 For they do not speak peace,
but against those who are quiet in the land
they conceive words of deceit.
21 They open wide their mouths against me;
they say, "Aha, Aha!
our eyes have seen it!"
22 Thou hast seen, O Lord; be not silent!
O
Lord, be not far from me!
23 Bestir thyself, and awake for my right,
for my cause, my God and my Lord!
24 Vindicate me, O Lord, my God,
according to thy righteousness;
and let them not rejoice over me!
25 Let them not say to themselves,
"Aha, we have our heart's desire!"
Let
them not say, "We have swallowed him up."
26 Let them be put to shame
and confusion altogether
who rejoice at my calamity!
Let
them be clothed with shame and dishonour
who magnify themselves against me!
27 Let those who desire my vindication
shout for joy and be glad,
and say evermore,
"Great is the Lord,
who delights in the welfare of his servant!"
28 Then my tongue shall tell of thy
righteousness
and of thy praise all the day long.
Psalm
60
To the choirmaster: according to Shushan Eduth.
A Miktam of David;
for instruction; when he strove with Aram-naharaim
and with Aram-zobah, and when Joab
on his return killed twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.
1 O God, thou hast rejected us,
broken our defenses;
thou hast been angry; oh, restore us.
2 Thou hast made the land to quake,
thou hast rent it open;
repair its breaches, for it totters.
3 Thou hast made thy people suffer hard things;
thou hast given us wine to drink that made us reel.
4 Thou hast set up a banner for those who love
thee,
to rally to it from the bow.
5 That thy beloved may be delivered,
give victory by thy right hand and answer us!
6 God has spoken in His sanctuary:
"With exultation I will divide up Shechem
and portion out the Vale of Succoth.
7 Gilead is mine; Manas'seh
is mine;
E'phraim is my helmet;
Judah
is my sceptre.
8 Moab is my washbasin;
upon Edom I cast my shoe;
over Philistia I shout in triumph."
9 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who
will lead me to Edom?
10 Hast thou not rejected us, O God?
Thou
dost not go forth, O God,
with our armies.
11 O grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the help of man!
12 With God we shall do valiantly;
it is He who will tread down our foes.
Psalm
62
To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun.
A Psalm of David.
1 For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from Him comes my salvation.
2 He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be greatly moved.
3 How long will you set upon a man
to shatter him, all of you,
like a leaning wall, a tottering fence?
4 They only plan to thrust him down from his
eminence.
They
take pleasure in falsehood.
They
bless with their mouths,
but inwardly they curse.
5 For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7 On God rests my deliverance and my honour;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
8 Trust in Him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before him;
God
is a refuge for us.
9 Men of low estate are but a breath,
men of high estate are a delusion;
in the balances they go up;
they are together lighter than a breath.
10 Put no confidence in extortion,
set no vain hopes on robbery;
if riches increase,
set not your heart on them.
11 Once God has spoken;
twice have I heard this:
that power belongs to God;
12 and that to thee, O Lord,
belongs steadfast love.
For
thou dost requite a man
according to his work.
Psalm 153 (a new addition)
Spread your spiritual wings by spreading your hands and turn round seven
times, each time say, Yahweh
The Lord Of The Hosts!
Yahweh The Lord Of The Hosts!
Yahweh The Lord Of The Hosts!
Yahweh The Lord Of The Hosts!
Yahweh The Lord Of The Hosts!
Yahweh The Lord Of The Hosts!
Yahweh The Lord Of The Hosts!
Yahweh The Lord Of The Hosts!
