Chapter 3
HOW TO OVERCOME THE WORLD
By
The Man Who Saw God Face To Face
Raphael Okechukwu Nweze
It suprises me that the birds are wiser than man!
The birds of the air creep into the egg shell.
How they enter into it, they do not know.
When they enter into the egg, they cannot tell.
But one thing they are sure of -
When they grow so big
that the shell is no longer big enough to contain them,
they crack the egg shell, to emerge therefrom
into freedom,
into vastness,
flying about in joyfulness.
So, I ask:
Why is that man, who is created in the image of God,
enters into the body
and refuses to come out of it?
God created you a master of the uniberse.
You only have to realise and actualise this.
HOW TO OVERCOME THE WORLD
You can overcome the world by:
- Stepping out of yourself. Know that you are one with the entire universe, even as a light-source is one with its ambient radiance. You step out of yourself by:
- First attending to the needs of others.
- Perform your duties without expecting rewards, thanks, praises, persuasion or force.
- Giving without conditions.
- Without complaining.
- Without cursing.
- Forgiving and forgetting.
- Not being insistent.
- Not hoarding.
- Stop seeing others as different from you.
- Not pursuing fame or polarity, especially for selfih reasons.
- Not lording it over others.
- Not cheating others.
- Not being stingy.
- Not always insisting on your own way.
- Ignoring people who step on your toes.
- Seeing others as yourself.
- Giving seats to the elderly, sick, handicapped and seniors.
- Stepping out of your body; by stepping out of the general believe that man is flesh (human being). God did not create weaklings as human beings. He created us as mighty, bright and glorious spirit beings. The flesh is nothing but corpse. "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63-64
You step out of your body by:
- Knowing yourself as a spirit, and not flesh.
- Knowing without being taught.
- Hearing without the ear.
- Seeing without the eye.
- Travelling without the legs.
- Can disappear from a place to appear at another.
- Stepping out of your religion. God is not defined by religion, and He is not confined to a particular church. This does not mean that you stop practicing your religion. It means to know and appreciate other religions, while practicing your own religion. You step out of your religion by:
- Seeking the Truth, not church or religion.
- Not always insisting on your own beliefs and practices.
- Not fighting people of other religions.
- Not planning against other religions.
- Not believing that your religion is the only true religion.
- Not discriminating against people of other religion, in employment, in postings, in distribution, at occasions, in sharing, with admissions, etc.
- Not insisting that your religion is the only true religion.
- Not insisting that your religion is the best, for the best religion is Truth.
- Not insisting that your religion is the greatest, for the greatest religion is Truth.
- Not fighting against the people of other religions.
- Not plotting against the people of other religions.
- Stepping out of your culture, by knowing and appreciating other cultures, which are varieties of nature. You step out of your culture by:
- Not learning the evil ways of the nations.
- Avoiding enculturation.
- Removing ancestral misdeeds.
- Purifying and sanctifying markets, centers and homes.
- Leaving your culture to worship God. Because of idolatory, Abraham left his pagan town to dwell alone in Canaan.
- Not participating in paganism.
- Not learning the ways of the nations. Beware of enculturation.
- Dissociating yourself from ancestral deeds, especially by performing family prayers and spiritual works.
- Not being a hypocrite, with one foot in the church and the other foot in the pagan cult.
Beware of markets which were dedicated to idols in the past, and there are so many of them.
- Stepping out of time and space. Then, you know that eternity is now. We live in the Eternal Now. Time and space are illusions. Time does not exist as we know it here on earth.
- Stepping out of the self-exclusion syndrome, whereby people honour their superiors and belittle themselves. You should rather appreciate your superiors and strive to become one of them; not just to honor them and belittle yourself.
- Stepping out of self-constructed prison of ignorance. “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” Besides, it is a life-long necessity to read, to study and to research.
- Stepping out of selfishness. Engage yourself in selflessness as a service offering to God. By so doing, you set yourself free from the law of karma, and from the cycle of birth, disease, decay and death (re-incarnation). That is what it means to be a living sacrifice.
- Stepping out of your environment. You do so by:
- Giving yourself rest from the world.
- Avoiding the cares and worries of everyday life.
- Stepping out of self-limitation and self-condemnation.
Let the weak say
I am strong
And
Let the small say
I am great.
Likewise,
Let the sinner say
I am a saint
And
Let everybody say
I am a spirit.
- Stepping out of your naivety. You do so by:
- Speaking a language without learning it.
- Flying in spirit.
- Stepping out of possessiveness. You do so by:
- Avoiding attachment to peole, things or places.
To live without reading is like
floating about on the periphery of life.
You were made to be a master of the universe.
The Winners
In a vision of the overcomers, behold I saw as follows: Those who win the battle in life are not those who fight the Devil. Such people do not get to the end of the race. I saw them cast off the Devil, which appeared in the form of a refuse dump, and yet the Devil remained. I saw them cross the road, but they did not get to the end.
Those who win the race are those people who seek self-knowledge, who thereby defeat the self. I saw that they successfully crossed the road and they became free and victorious.
To him that overcomes
will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame,
and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Revelation 3:21
He that hath an ear,
let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna,
and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written,
which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Revelation 2:17
